Abuja community residents go through hell accessing hospital

Residents of Dutse Alhaji in Bwari Area Council of Abuja, the Nigeria capital city, go through hell trying to access the only government hospital in their area.

This is even as Mr. Musa Dikko, the Bwari Area Council chairman had since 2018 presented N4.7 billion budget to the council Assembly, and subsequent allocations made since then.

Worse still, the condition of Dutse General Hospital road does not reflect the various funds’ allocations and releases by the Bwari Area Council Administration.

Apart from the road leading to the Dutse Hospital, the community suffers a huge infrastructural deficit with all streets not tarred and residents go through hell accessing their homes.

Mr. David Yohana, a community resident who spoke to MAWA FOUNDATION in front of the hospital said there are no roads in the whole Dutse community.

”This is not the only bad road in Dutse, there are no roads in the entire Dutse,” he said.

A staff of the hospital, who spoke to MAWA, said it is unfortunate that this is the only road that leads patients to the hospital.

Mr. Ibrahim Isah, who is a commercial motorcycle operator, told MAWA officials that roads in Dutse are so terrible that their motorcycles are wearing off as a result of the bad road network.

He has since appealed to the Bwari Area Council authority to help fix the road.
