Despite N7.4 billion, Kwali community PHC remains dilapidated

The Primary Health Centre at the Gummi community in Kwali Area Council of Abuja has remained dilapidated despite N7.4 billion budgeted by the Area Council.

The Kwali Area Council in 2020 budgeted the sum of N7.4 billion to be expended in the provision of basic infrastructure across communities in the area council.

Mr. Danladi Chiya, the  Kwali Area Council Chairman while presenting the budget to the council’s legislature for approval said N4 billion was for capital expenditure, while N2 billion was for Local Education Authority personnel cost.

Chiya said that his administration had placed more emphasis on capital projects to meet the needs of the people.

On sectoral allocation, he said Works and Housing has the highest allocation of N1 billion, followed by Health and Human services with N638 million.

Worse still, the budget is yet to reflect in the life of Gummi residents as a the the public primary centre in the area has completely collapsed.

Tracka, a public accountability organization that exposed the dilapidated nature of the health center has since appealed to the Abuja capital administration to help fix it.
