Enugu Awkunanaw Street, dilapidated, death trap

Awkunanaw Street in Enugu, the Enugu state capital has become a death trap despite the N43 billion state capital allocations in the year 2019 and other allocations that have been made from 2020 to 2021.

Residents of Awkunanaw Street located by the Etudo area are lamenting how they go through predicament using the road to access their homes.

Mr. Uche Victor, a resident of Awkunanaw told MAWA FOUNDATION via a telephone conversation that many motorists who have alternative routes avoid the road, narrating how terrible it has become.

He added that the road has been in a terribly dilapidated condition for decades and wondered why the Enugu state government has refused to fix it.

This is even as Mr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the Enugu state Governor in 2019 set aside the sum of N43, 493, 343,000.00 representing 39.8 percent of the total budget as capital expenditure.

Worse still the road has remained a death trap despite the huge capital allocation.
