Ondo varsity N180 million clinic abandoned despite 120% fund release

The construction of clinical sciences building at the university of medical science Ondo state has been abandoned despite the sum of 120% fund release for the project.

Mr. Peter Abiola, a lawmaker from Ondo west nominated the clinical science building as a constituency project.

The federal government under the zonal intervention project in the year 2018 allocated the sum of N70 million to the project while the 70% fund was released.

Although the project was not done, the federal government in the year 2019 allocated another N110 million to the project with 50% fund release.

Worse still, despite the fund release, Tracka officials that visited the university located at Ondo West Local Government Area of Ondo State confirmed the project has been abandoned while grasses have taken over the building site

The project was awarded by Ragal Consult Limited and supervised by Project Development Institute.

When the school management was contacted for a response, the university senior officials, say they are not happy the project has been abandoned while appealing to the lawmaker and the federal government to complete the project because of its importance in health and education.

Ondo varsity is not the only exception, there a huge number of constituency projects nominated by the Nigerian lawmakers that have been abandoned in many communities across the country.

And often, in some cases the projects are been implemented, prices are inflated and substandard materials used.
