Kogi government in her 2021 budget approved the sum of N300k for State College of Education Ankpa, purchase of textbooks & teaching materials while approving N4.087 billion for State House of Assembly.
MAWA FOUNDATION study of the Kogi state 2021 approved budget published on her state website, shows that the state in her 2021 appropriation approved N300, 000 for College of Education (COE) Ankpa for her purchase of textbooks and teaching materials while she approved the sum of N4, 087,739,931 for the State House of Assembly.
Further breakdown of the budget shows that the State House of Assembly got N1, 533,573,876 for its total recurrent and N2, 554,166,055 as capital.
This is even as the Kogi state college of education, Ankpa was established in July 1981 as an Advanced Teachers’ College and is affiliated to Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria.
This is even as the state relies heavenly on the institution to train her teachers that are been deployed to primary and post-primary schools after graduation.
However, the action of Kogi government appears to be a clear lack of interest in funding education in the state which further explains why there is a huge collapse of education across all levels in the state.
