Residents of the Oke Imole Oluloyo community in Ona Ara Local Government Area, Oyo state, are facing difficulties accessing medical care as the only Primary Health Care (PHC) in the Area is in deplorable condition.
Worse still, despite the deplorable nature of the community hospital in Oke Imole Mr. Seyi Makinde, the state government approved N1.2 billion to be expended on building a governor lodge in Abuja, the Nigerian capital city.
Defending the state action, officials said the Abuja lodge will house the Governor and Deputy when completed.
Mr. Daud Sangodoyin, the Commissioner of Public Works and Infrastructure, who announced the approval, said the lodge is located at No 2. John Kadiya Close, Asokoro, Abuja.
This is even as Oke Imole Oluloyo and many other communities in Oyo state especially those in the rural area do not have access to healthcare and while the residents go through hell accessing medical care with high maternal and infant mortality rates.
Worse still, Tracka, a public accountability organization that exposed the deplorable nature of the hospital said it needs urgent renovation, medical equipment, and personnel and has since appealed to the state government to immediately fix it.
