Inside Collapsing School Ogun Children Learn Despite Billion-Naira Education Allocation

Methodist Primary School, Odepata in Ipokia LGA, Ogun State, is where 211 children are supposed to learn every day, but instead, they risk their lives just walking into class. 

Accordig to MonitNG, a public accountability organization that exposed the neglect, the school 

building is on the verge of collapse, barely held up by wooden poles. Many pupils now refuse to enter, choosing instead to learn under trees or not at all.

This isn’t just a story of decay, it’s a silent emergency.

Between 2019 and 2025, Ogun State allocated over ₦548 billion to education. Yet, in Odepata, children sit in fear, under a roof that could kill them. Why?

This is a call for urgency, dignity, and justice. Mr. Dapo Abiodun, the state Governor the children of Odepata need you now. They don’t need promises, they need classrooms. Safe ones.
