Mr. Mansur Manu Soro, a federal lawmaker from Bauchi State N28 million constituency health clinics under the supervision of the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on SDG (OSSAP) has remained uncompleted despite allocation and funds release for the project.
Mr. Soro had in 2020 nominated the construction of a health clinic at Gungura in Ganjuwa Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
A project the Federal Government had through the Zonal Intervention Project (ZIP) allocated the sum of N28 million.
Tracka, a public accountability organization that was in the community to inspect the project, says the health clinic and staff quarter which is part of the project has remained uncompleted.
Mr. Soro, while reacting via a telephone conversation, claims he is building hospitals across some communities in Bauchi state with his personal money. An action, he said he is undertaking because Bauchi has a high record of maternal and child mortality over the years, pointing out that UNICEF in 2018 found that 11,400 babies are dying annually in Bauchi state while his constituency that is made up of rural areas represents a sizeable number of the maternal and infant mortality.
Worse still, residents of Gungura community in Bauchi State are decrying the dilapidated nature of their Primary Health Centre while appealing to the state government to help fix it so they can have access to better healthcare delivery.
Mr. Danladi, who is in charge of Gungura Primary Healthcare, while decrying the dilapidated nature of the hospital, showed how all the facilities have decayed while begging the government to help them fix it and make drugs available.
Mr. Danladi also disclosed that the community has no electricity, access road, water, and school.
Danladi further disclosed that the hospital has only three health workers while the Local Government Authority has not paid the hospital auxiliary health worker for over five years.
