Residents of Zone 5 Area, by the Catholic Church at Dutse Alhaji in Bwari Area Council of Abuja, have contributed money and are fixing their road.
Residents who spoke to MAWA FOUNDATION say they began contributing monies to fix their road when it became obvious to them that government isn’t going to help them fix the road.
All landlords living in this area contributed N20k and tenants N10k before we were able to raise the capital to fix this road ourselves, the leaders of the group told MAWA.
We have been living in this area since 22 years, we have approached Bwari Area Council severally to assist us in fixing this road, but nothing has happened since then, we cannot wait for them anymore, hence we are doing the job ourselves, one of the residents in the area said.
We had a meeting, organised ourselves, had committee members who went from house to house and collected money from residents.
At the end, the committee members give an account of every penny spent on the project.
MAWA FOUNDATION, had last two weeks reported how residents of Zone 4 area of Dutse Alhaji, go through hell trying to access their homes as a result of bad road.
