Despite poverty in Oyo, Makinde approves N1.2 billion for Governor’s Lodge in Abuja

Despite the poverty and inequality ravaging rural and urban communities in Oyo State, the government under the leadership of Mr. Seyi Makinde has approved the sum of N1.2 billion to build Governor’s Lodge in Abuja, the Nigerian capital city.

The state officials said the lodge will house the Governor and Deputy when completed.

Mr. Makinde, along with the state government’s executive council, has approved N1.2 billion to construct a new lodge in Abuja for the incumbent and successive governors.

The Commissioner of Public Works and Infrastructure, Daud Sangodoyin, disclosed that the council approved N1.2 billion to construct a new Governor’s Lodge at No 2. John Kadiya Close, Asokoro, Abuja.

Sangodoyin further revealed that the new lodge would provide apartments for the governor, deputy governor, chalets, fittings, and furniture, “which would be of modern type.”

The commissioner added that the government would complete the building project in six months.

News Agency of Nigeria reports that Sangodoyin explained that the old lodge was no longer fit for the governor’s use.

This is even as many communities in Oyo state do not have access to health and education, and civil servants continue to lament inadequate salaries to take care of their family.
