Kogi community residents groan over deplorable road

Residents of Akpanya, a community with the largest population in Igalamela Local Government Area of Kogi State are groaning over the deplorable nature of their road that is making lives difficult and affecting economic activities.

The road that connects the community to Enugu State has been abandoned by the government for decades, making it become hugely deplorable.

The road that has become inaccessible as a result of its deplorable nature is being fixed by the community using manual labour.

A good number of people who come from Enugu state to engage in commercial activities at Oye Market located at Agbedo use the road. A situation that forced the community residents to commence the process of fixing the road using manual labour.

The community mainly the youth had come out in a large number with their hoes and cutlasses on an agreed date to work on the road to make it motorable.

Some of the locals who spoke to MAWA described the situation as most unfortunate. They narrated how they had supported and played an active role in supporting many administrations in the state.

This is even as Mr.  Humphrey Abah, that has held three positions as a Nigerian former minister of trade and investment, interior, and police affairs comes from the community, wth his house located just one kilometre away from the deplorable road.

Worse still, four persons that had served in the capacity as Igalamela local government Chairmen come from the community.
