25 Kwara rural women contribute monies, built community school

25 women in Agindigbi and Onila communities in Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State  have contributed monies and built community school because there was no school for their children.

The women began the community school project in 2017 by contributing some part of the money they got from Conditional Cash Transfer paid to them by the government.

The women, MAWA Foundation learned, contributed over N1 million spent on the community school project.

Mr. Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, the Kwara State Governor, inspired by the action of the women, visited the community, praised them and refunded the sum of N1 million they have contributed and expended in the community school project.

The Governor disclosed that the state government will take over from where the women stopped and continue the good work they have started by expanding the classrooms and improving the facilities.

The governor added that he is inspired by the actions of the women. Pointing out that they have, over the years, taken a fraction of the money they received from Federal Government’s Conditional Cash Transfer Scheme and contributed it to building schools in their own community.
