Bauchi lawmaker constructs two boreholes for N50 million

Mr. Kani Faggo, a lawmaker from Bauchi State and the ministry of agriculture and rural development have constructed two boreholes for N50 million as a constituency project.

The boreholes that cost N25 million each are located at Kilbori/Zabi communities in Shira/Giade Local Government Areas of Bauchi State.

The project that was supervised by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development was awarded to XTRAX 99 Integrated Services Nigeria Limited.

Faggo had nominated the construction of boreholes in the community as part of his constituency project. However, the Federal Government had last year allocated the sum of N50 million for the construction of the projects.

Tracka, a public accountability organization that visited the projects, says they have been completed.

However, Checks by MAWA FOUNDATION show that the Bauchi lawmaker and the ministry of agriculture and rural development may have shortchanged the people, as a hydrological expert told MAWA that the construction of a similar boreholes averages between N5 million to N6 million and that includes payment for labour and consultancy services.
