Nigerian Institute spends over N40 million fixing entrance gate

The Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology, under the Federal Ministry of Transport, supervised by Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, former transport minister says it has expended the sum of N40 million fixing entrance gates.

In the contract that was awarded to Kidibul Nigeria Ltd, the Institute on August 2021, paid the sum of N40 million to the contractor in what it said was part payment for the construction and remodeling of the main gate at its branch offices located at Abuja, Lagos, Zaria, and Port Harcourt.

In a clear example of contract inflation, the figure that has since been published on www.govspend.ng a Budgit platform that shows government spending discloses the Institute has since spent the sum of N10 million remodeling a single gate.

It is unclear the kind of procurement process carried out by the Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology to have arrived at fixing entrance gate for N40 million.
