Mr. Emeka Chinedu, a lawmaker from Imo state has built a three classrooms block for N15 million as his constituency project.
The lawmaker in the year 2020 nominated the construction of three classrooms block in Oboama Secondary school, Ezinihitte Local Government Area of Imo State as his constituency project.
The Federal Government had since in 2020 allocated the sum of N15 million to the project.
The N15 million three classrooms block was supervised by the National Human Rights Commission and was awarded to New View Engineering Nigeria Limited.
Tracka team that visited the project site, says it has been completed but locked up and not put to use
However, MAWA FOUNDATION checks show the Imo lawmaker may have shortchanged his people.
Mr. Eneojo Michael, an architect and a civil engineer, while speaking to MAWA, said constructing a three classrooms block averages between N3.5 million and N4 million. This includes payments for labour and constancy fees.
Worse still, the Imo lawmaker and National Human Rights Commission have since claimed they built a three classrooms block for N15 million.
This is even as National Human Rights Commission does not have the mandate to construct schools but vested with the mandate to pursue issues related to human rights.
