Children in Abuja have continued to learn under terrible and harsh conditions despite the sum of N62.4 billion that was approved for the Federal Capital Territory 2020 budget.
The FCT had in 2020 got the approval of N62.4 for capital expenditure. An amount Mr. Muhammad Bello, the FCT Minister said will be utilized on education, health, and other basic infrastructures.
Despite the N62.4 capital expenditure, children of the Dobi Ward in Gwagwalada Area Council of Abuja, learn in an uncompleted building that has since been abandoned.
Tracka, a public accountability organization that exposed the terrible nature of the school, has since appealed to the FCT authority to help fix the school for the children to learn in a conducive environment.
Some of the teachers who spoke to MAWA-FOUNDATION disclosed that Dobi is not the only community with terrible schools, they say many schools in Gwagwalada and Kuje are without classrooms and teachers.
Apart from the 2020 capital budget allocation, Mr. Muhammad Musa Bello, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) said his administration is to spend the sum of N45, 527, 118,338 in its 2021 National Priority Capital projects.
