Mr. Joshua Dariye, a Senator and former governor of Plateau State, in a clear example of corruption and contract inflation has facilitated the construction of a mini bridge at the sum of N88.3 million as his constituency project.
Mr. Joshua Dariye in 2016 nominated the bridge as part of his constituency project. And, under the deal, Dariye said the sum of N88.3 million will be expended in the construction of 18 kilometres road in Tangur-Horop-Mangar road Phase I & III of Plateau state.
Part of the road project was the construction of a bridge and culverts in the Bokkos local government area of the state.
UDEME team who was at the site to monitor and evaluate the project said the only project implemented was a bridge and grading done on the road.
Dariye was convicted and sentenced to prison for engaging in a huge graft while he was the Plateau state governor.
Dariye is not the only offender, Nigeria Lawmakers hide under the cover of constituency projects to nominate and access money for projects to be implemented in the constituency they represent.
Often when the money is released using Ministry Departments and Agencies (MDAs), the Lawmakers simply disappear.
Many of the projects are never done, and in some cases where projects are done, they are substandard and highly inflated.
