Contractor forces principal to sign N50 million uncompleted constituency project

The Principal of Government Girls Day Secondary School Kafur in Katsina state has disclosed how the contractor handling a construction of N50 million project in her schooled wanted to force her sign off an uncompleted project as having been completed.

The federal government had last year through the Economic Recovery Growth Plan (Consolidated Capital Project)
allocated the sum of N50 million for the construction of an ICT center at Government Girls Day Secondary School in  Malumfashi/Kafur Federal Constituency area of Katsina state.

The project awarded to Puranova Nigeria Limited was supervised by Universal Basic Education Department of Physical Planning and was facilitated by Mr. Babangida Ibrahim, a federal lawmaker in the House of Representative.

Despite the contractor building and a single classroom and branding it ICT centre without equipping it in line with the project specification, he has since made attempts to force the school principal to sign that it has been completed and delivered.

A push, the principal has resisted and refused.

The ICT that ought to be equipped with table, chairs, desktop computers and internet connectivity is empty.

Tracka official who visited the school to inspect and evaluate the project reported how the school principal narrated attempts by the contractor to force her sign that the project has been completed without equipping the ICT centre.

“The contractor brought a paper and asked me to sign that they have completed the project including furnished, but, I refused to sign” the principal said.
